In-house player evaluations are coming up soon, January 11th and February 8th.  All players new to the NLBA or starting a new Division (i.e. Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, or Pony) are required to attend one of those dates.  If your child participated in the NLBA 2019 Spring session and will be in the same Division for the 2020 Spring session, they are not required to attend the evaluations.  However, participation in only 2019 Fall Ball does not exempt them from the requirement to attend.  There are not evaluations for the Shetland and Maverick divisions.

We use the evaluation grades to help us maintain competitive balance as managers draft teams in February.  The players will not be given their grades.  The grades are only available to the team managers and division VPs.

Though players returning for their second year in the same division are not required to attend evaluations, it is important that you register very soon so that as we plan for the Spring session, we have the appropriate number of teams and managers in place.  There will be a $25 late fee for registrations received after January 31st.

Players are selected via a “Draft” in late February, and you will be notified of your team assignment shortly after the draft.  We cannot grant requests for players to be placed with specific managers, coaches, extended family members, or friends.  However, we do ensure that siblings are placed on the same team.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Part Time Travel Try Outs @ Lincoln Way West Field House January 18th, 2020

  • 9u & 10u Tryouts begin at 4 p.m.
  • 7u & 8u Tryouts begin at 5:30 p.m.
  • 11u & 12u Tryouts begin at 7 p.m.
  • 13u & 14u Tryouts begin at 8:30 p.m.

For players and parents interested in more competitive baseball, Part Time (PT) Travel team tryouts will be held on January 18th, 2020.  Part Time Travel teams are selected by the Managers and Evaluators of those teams after the tryouts.  Players are not guaranteed a spot on a Part Time travel team by trying out.  Players who accept positions on PT Travel teams must also play on an in-house team and will be selected for that in-house team in the February draft.

There is an additional fee for participating in PT Travel baseball.  The exact amount varies and will be determined by the team managers, but are significantly less than a full time travel team.  The fee covers the cost of things such as team uniforms, practice facilities, and tournament entry fees.

PT Travel Teams typically get started in February with indoor practices.  Once in-house team practices and season starts, in-house teams take priority.  PT Travel Teams play in additional games on Sundays during the in-house season, participating in the Chicagoland Sunday Baseball League (http://www.clsunball.com/ ).  Additional practices during the season are at the discretion of the team managers.  PT Travel teams will also typically participate in 2-3 summer tournaments after the in-house season has ended.

The PT league in which Rebels participate is local and there are no long drives. Some of the teams in the league are Frankfort, Tinley Park, Mokena and Bourbonnais for example. Half of the games will be at Rebels fields. PT travel teams only play other PT teams from similar programs so there is a level playing field of age and skills.

If your player has been bitten by the baseball bug and wants to play more or if you want to want to try out PT ball before looking into Full-Time, Rebels PT will fit your needs and grow your players skills. A number of last years’ PT teams and players made the jump to Full-Time last year so there are open positions at all ages.

If you are unable to attend at the time and date for your division, you may contact the team manager to arrange for a private tryout.
